Hi
Welcome to my page.
I am an avid skydiver with over 13 years in the sport. I have more than 6000 jumps and plan to continue to make that many more and then some. I am a member of the United States Parachute Association (USPA). I am also an AFF Instructor, USPA Coach, Skydive University coach, canopy control coach, and a professional skydiver.
I decided to open this Canopy Control School after much consideration of how much we don't know about canopy control. One of the main reasons that this school is in existence is to help keep my friends alive. I have had a few friends die or get severely injured in the last few years directly due to a lack of canopy piloting skills. It is my hope that teaching canopy control will make a positive difference.
As a coach in freefall and under canopy, I have learned valuable teaching techniques for both aspects. I have studied and researched canopy control for a number of years. This was originally for my benefit but now I believe that I can help others with my knowledge.
Recently, I started competing on the Pro Swooping Tour (formally Para Pro Blade Tour). I have a Pro rating in this Competition. I have spent many hours talking to the guys and girls on tour, picking their brains, and gaining knowledge on swooping as well as basic canopy control.
I have also spent time with Scott Miller, (owner, canopy school at Skydive Deland and Performance Designs test pilot), learning his techniques of teaching. I have adapted my teaching skills to integrate some of Scott's techniques. They have been very successful.
I have been skydivng since 1993 and a professional skydiver since June of 1999 and have made numerous, high profile demo jumps into stadiums, baseball fields and various other places. All of these jumps have really increased my canopy piloting skills. I hope this gives you a little insight as to why this school was started.
My biggest concern today with new as well as experienced jumpers is that the canopies are evolving faster than the educational process. We have to catch up fast to keep each and every one of us safe under canopy.
Thanks for visiting my web site and please don't hesitate to contact me if you have any comments or questions.
Thanks again
